Kimi Encarnacion is a vintage junkie with an obsession for kitschy decor and a mad love for fashion and personal style.
I was off to the market. Love that fanny pack and I think I wear these bellbottom jeans + Birkies everyday! On my days off (from the bells) I’m breaking in a pair of dark indigo skinnies. The kind you spot clean only for 6 months to get the perfect fade. Pretty unfun! I’m a hopeless romantic when it comes to denim!
Having a Tammy Wynette hair day on the left. The pic to the right is how I feel around certain people. I move fast and the background kind of stays slow.
DIY Free People inspired patchwork bellbottoms. Click on the hyper link to get to my original DIY post. Alternative Apparel Tshirt w/ a lucky cat kimi restyle. And my birkies, and that red fanny pack. It’s all there!
My succulent bohemian decor idea was featured today on SheKnows.com. I don’t consider my style to be bohemian but I do get called a hippie enough to make me wonder. View full version of the original post on California Pixie HERE.
Someone left a comment asking to see more of my mid century kitchen. Here it is…the room where it all happens. There’s the area of the kitchen with the stove and oven then there’s this part. I’ll have 40 people in this house and find them all squished into this little space. A ton of laughs have been exchanged here. This really is true love!
One day Jay and I walked into my favorite junk shop and saw this white mid century sofa. A beauty, straight out of the 50s, this corner sectional was still clean and fresh. This little lady must have been parked in a formal sitting room where, lucky for me, it didn’t get much action. I have the perfect spot for it…don’t ya think? Funny, in this house the kitchen couch get’s all the love.
I do all my cooking with the same stove top and oven they had on The Beverly Hillbillies. I can picture a big fat new 6 burner dual range in it’s place but I can’t give up on my old mid century charmer!
This was easy! Easy cuz I have all this great junk I seem to find everywhere. It’s prom season and my friend hosted a dinner party for 30 kids before their dance. I never volunteer to help with decor cuz my style’s not matchy theme style and it doesn’t always play well with others. This friend’s the type that let’s you do your thing. She just wants it fun and done! In that case, I’m all in!! I threw together this super simple table decor. I have these great vintage thriftshop bedspreads from India and a bunch of other fabrics collected from travels. Those combined with mid century pottery stuffed with backyard succulents give the decor bohemian simplicity without an obvious theme, don’t ya think? When I say bohemian I mean that soulful mix and match ease. We strung christmas lights, yes, the colored ones, and piled the serving table full of mexican food. Easy! I’ve realized part of my thing here on the Pixie is to absolutely love what you love and use what you have. Americans tend to run to the store every time we tackle something. If you look around, your magic’s probably already there, you just have to go for it!
I’ve discovered oasis, that green foam made for florists, works great for indoor succulent plantings. The plants actually root into it and it holds water like crazy! Each of these pots are made that way.

How about those vintage white round sunglasses from Allyn Scura Eyewear? I made the skirt out of an old house dress. Like a Mac Guiver of needle and thread, I just cut it out, even saved the big front zipper. Some of the coolest old fabrics I find are on these vintage house dresses. Crazy print gold.
